This position is housed within the Resource Mobilization and Partnerships (RMP) Unit, tasked with forging strategic partnerships, mobilizing financial resources, and highlighting the UNFCCC's mission priorities.

Reporting directly to the Manager (P-5) of the RMP Sub-division, the Associate Programme Officer will play an integral role in developing tools, reports, and funding proposals, while supporting donor engagement and partnership strategies to secure resources for climate initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

As part of the Resource Mobilization and Partnership Unit, the Associate Programme Officer will:

  • Implement UNFCCC’s Resource Mobilization and Partnership Strategy, fostering engagement with existing and potential donors.

  • Build and maintain relationships with donors and partners, ensuring alignment with UNFCCC’s objectives.

  • Prepare funding proposals, donor reports, and briefing notes by conducting research and analyzing data.

  • Conduct due diligence assessments for potential partners and manage high-level donor relations.

  • Provide analytics on resource mobilization trends to aid decision-making.

  • Represent UNFCCC in technical meetings, workshops, and seminars, contributing to discussions on funding strategies and partnership goals.

  • Assist in organizing donor meetings, events, and campaigns to boost funding efforts.

Qualifications & Skills

Education

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Management, Business Administration, Economics, Environmental Studies, Development Studies, or a related field.

  • A bachelor's degree combined with two years of relevant professional experience may be considered.

Experience

  • At least two years of professional experience in resource mobilization, donor engagement, or partnership coordination.

  • Experience in an international work setting is desirable.

  • Familiarity with climate change initiatives, funding mechanisms, and donor strategies is an asset.

Skills

  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Proficiency in gathering, interpreting, and presenting data for strategic decision-making.

  • Client Engagement: Proven ability to foster partnerships and maintain productive relationships with stakeholders.

  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal skills in English (knowledge of additional UN languages is a plus).
